Tracy’s Rickman taking over as chairman of SJ Board of Supervisors

STOCKTON — The San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors on Wednesday at 10 a.m. will swear in Paul Canepa from District 2 and Steven J. Ding from District 4 during the first Board of Supervisors meeting of 2023. 

 In addition, Supervisor Robert Rickman representing Tracy and Mountain House is slated to be elected Chair of the Board with Supervisor Villapudua as Vice-Chair.

 "I look forward to working collaboratively with my new colleagues on the Board in continuing to make San Joaquin County a desirable place to live, work, play, and raise a family,” noted chairman-elect Rickman.

Supervisor Canepa will replace Supervisor Kathy Miller who was termed out in 2022. Before his election as a San Joaquin County Supervisor, Canepa served as a member of the Stockton City Council and was previously a member of the Lincoln Unified School Board.

 Supervisor Ding will replace Supervisor Chuck Winn of Ripon who was also termed out in 2022. Ding is a small business owner of Woodbridge Crossing Restaurant and prior to his election to the Board of Supervisors was previously Chief of Staff to U.S. Representative Richard Pombo, where he served on the U.S. House of Representatives Natural Resources Committee.   

In addition to the swearing in of the Board of Supervisors’, Steve J. Bestolarides will be sworn in as Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk, Jeffrey Woltkamp will be sworn in as Auditor-Controller and Phonxay Keokham will be sworn in as Treasurer-Tax Collector.
