Deputies tracked a fleeing domestic violence suspect wanted on attempted murder and attempted kidnapping charges Friday to the 200 block of West Yosemite Avenue in downtown Manteca.

Jared Tavares, 34, was jailed on a “no bail” status on five felony charges including attempted willful murder, attempted kidnapping, burglary, terrorist threats and for allegedly inflicting corporal injuries on a co-inhabitant at her Lone Tree Road home in Escalon at 6 a.m. that morning.

The 5-foot-6, 145 pound man had allegedly forced his way into his 30-year-old ex-girlfriend’s bedroom window and head butted her, bit, struck, scratched, held her down and slammed her head onto the ground several times, according to deputies.

The crime report alleges he told then told her, “If you don’t come with me I am going to kill you.”  Tavaras then threw the woman out the window and attempted to kidnap her by dragging her across the yard, the report states. The woman was able to escape and run to a neighbor’s house to report the incident.

Tavaras is scheduled to appear in the Manteca Branch of the San Joaquin Superior Court at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
