It’s time to get into the swim of things again.

Manteca Parks and Recreation – which provided 1,800 youth swimming lessons last summer – is getting ready to offer its standard week-day group sessions plus add Saturday lessons as well as private lessons.

“We already have a few people who want private lessons,” noted Toni Lundgren of Manteca Parks and Rec.

She said the one-on-one classes are ideal for people who have children who need more work on specific moves as well as for adults, and special needs kids.

Lundgren said the department had been assessing what people were requesting in the way of additional classes as well as monitoring other cities and what new programs they’re offering.

“There are people week day lessons don’t work well for because they commute and can’t get their kids to them,” Lundgren said.

Private swim lessons will take place at the Lincoln Park or Manteca High pool. All lessons are based on instructor and pool availability. The fee is $20 per resident per lesson and last 40 minutes each. Request the date you would like a week prior and if Manteca Rec is unable to fulfill the request you will be notified.

Manteca offers eight skill level and age classes.

There are two Saturday sessions that will run June 6 through June 27 and July 11 through Aug. 11. They are 35 minutes each week and take place at the Lincoln Pool at 9:40 a.m., 10:20 a.m., 11 a.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:10 p.m. The cost is $20 per session for residents and $30 for non-residents.

The week day lessons are in five sessions: June 8-18, June 22-July 2, July 6-16 and July 20-30 over two weeks Monday through Friday for 35 minutes apiece and Aug. 3-7 in a one week session Monday through Friday for 55 minutes each.

The lessons take place at the Manteca High and Lincoln Park pools at 9 a.m., 9:40 a.m., 10 a.m., 10:20 a.m., 11 a.m., 11:40 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 5:10 p.m., 5:30p.m., 5:40 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7:10 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

The cost is $37 per session for Manteca residents and $47 per session for non-residents.
