Manteca Youth Focus will crown the next Miss Manteca along with 8 other titles as part of their annual scholarship competitions set for tonight at 7 p.m. at Calvary Community Church, located at 815 W. Lathrop Road in Manteca.
Tickets are $10 and available online at www.mantecayouthfocus.com or at the door.
This year marks the 23rd annual competition. Under new direction by Douglas Scott, Kristin Scott and Amanda Rosas will feature the current reigning titleholders Allison Nussbaumer - Miss Manteca, Nate Padilla -Manteca City Ambassador, Sydnee Navarro - Miss Teen Manteca, Jesus Valdez - Teen Manteca City Ambassador, and Brooklynn Cockriel - Miss Young Manteca.
Taking the traditional crowns and medals found in a beauty pageant, MYF has removed all phases related to physical beauty and instead allows each young person to shine on their own in the various areas of the competition including academics, community service, public speaking and performing arts. Ten outstanding young men and women of achievement between the ages of 10 to 20 from the greater Manteca area have stepped forward to represent their community and earn their share of nearly $5,000 in educational scholarships and six different city titles including Miss Manteca, Miss Teen Manteca, Miss Young Manteca and corresponding age division ambassadors. The first runners-up in each division will also be crowned Pumpkin Fair titleholders representing the annual Manteca Pumpkin Fair sponsored by the Sunrise Kiwanis Club of Manteca.
