Alondra Avila has been accepted into the Miss Stockton/Sacrament pageant on Nov. 22.

The Manteca High senior will compete in the Miss Teen division, and she’ll be judged on modeling routines, personality and interviewing skills for a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes at the national level.

Avila comes with serious credentials. She is an honor roll student at Manteca High, a member of the school’s fashion club and a four-year member of the tennis team. She also played two seasons of softball.

Avila also has an affinity for the law. She is a part of the California Highway Patrol Explorer program.

The Miss Stockton/Sacramento pageant competition will take place inside the Delta Center for the Arts on the campus of San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton. The pageant will begin at 4 p.m., but doors open at 3.

Tickets will be sold at the door for $20.

The division winners will represent Stockton, Sacramento and its surrounding communities at the national competition in Orlando, Fla., on all all-expenses paid trip. There, they’ll compete for more than $30,000 in prizes and awards, according to a press release.

Avila hopes to put Manteca on the map, but she can’t do it alone. 

She’s asking local businesses, organizations and private parties to help sponsor her journey. The monetary donations, however big or small, will help cover Avila’s training and rehearsal costs, as well as other pageant-related expenditures. 

She is hoping to raise at least $495.
