Alert neighbors on North Cottage Avenue near Southland Road, outside of Manteca’s city limits north of Louise Avenue, spotted a couple believed to be in their late 20s taking mail from street-side delivery boxes shortly after noon on Tuesday and photographed their truck.
They said the theft occurred after a car route delivery was made to the box in front of the home.
They described the driver as a Caucasian in his late 20s accompanied by a female of about the same age with a thin build.  The man was driving a white Ford F-250 extended crew cab with an American flag waving from the bed of the truck.  The license plate was covered with a dealer’s paper plate.
One of the residents who witnessed the incident said that two dents and the truck’s two tone paint made it stand out from others of that year and make.
“The driver was observed sitting in the driver’s seat while the passenger grabbed the mail while remaining inside the truck,” the witness said.
He added that the truck fled northbound on Cottage Avenue.
To report any additional information call the Sheriff’s department at (209) 468-4400 as a deputy took a report of the theft.  Manteca city mail thefts may be reported to Officer Michael Aguilar at 456-8101.
