‘Family Affair’s’ Cissy  speaking in Manteca Feb. 5
“Cissy” of “Family Affair” fame is speaking in Manteca during the eighth annual Women’s Connection networking event on Friday, Feb. 5.

Kathy Garver who played “Cissy” in the popular situation TV comedy series that ran on CBS from Sept. 12, 1966 to Sept. 9, 1971 is one of two keynote speakers for the Manteca Convention & Visitors Bureau conference taking place at the Calvary Community Church, 815 W. Lathrop Road, on Feb, 5 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The $40 ticket covers networking, speakers, fashion show, breakout sessions, and lunch. For tickets or more information call the CVB at 823-7229.

The other keynote speaker is Mike Midgley from TV’s “Top Chef.”

Break-out sessions include meals in minutes, sleep disorders, safe internet surfing, bless this mess, nutrition, and woman-to-woman workplace relationships

Although Graver is remembered for her starring role as “Cissy” in “Family Affair”, she has also garnered critical acclaim in movies, stage, radio, voice-over animation, and audio book narration.

The conference is sponsored by New York Diamonds and Doctors Hospital of Manteca.

MRPS annual presentation of the queens
The Manteca-Ripon  Pentecost  Society’s annual presentation of the queens and marinated pork dinner takes place on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

Dinner is from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children 6 to 12. Those 6 and under are free.

Anderson BMX crab feed Feb. 13
The Anderson’s 209 BMX marinated crab feed takes place on Saturday, Feb. 13, at the FESM Hall, 230 North Main St.  It takes place from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m.

If you don’t like crab you can request a steak in advance.

The $40 ticket covers dinner – marinated crab, plain crab, pasta, French bread, anti-pasta, and dessert – as well as dancing. This is one of the few crab feeds with a live band. Playing will be the classic rock band The Vine Dawgz from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. There is also a no-host bar.

MRPS Hall fish dinner Feb. 17
The Manteca-Ripon  Pentecost Society’s fish dinner is on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 17, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St., from 4 to 7 p.m.

Dinner includes fish, potatoes, green beans, salad, bread and dessert.

Cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under.

Take out is also available.
