Ripon council filing underway for two positions

Two seats are up for grabs on the Ripon City Council come November.

Included are the position currently held by Mayor Chuck Winn and Councilman Dean Uecker.

Winn won’t be back. Instead, he’s setting his sights on the San Joaquin County Board of Supervisors, and will be in a runoff this fall with Lodi business owner Russ Munson for the District 4 post.

Uecker expressed an interest not too long ago to seek re-election for another four-year term,

The nomination period kicks off this morning at 8 o’clock, according to the San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office in Stockton.

Those interested must be a registered voter of Ripon at the time nomination papers are issued.

They’re also required to be:

A U.S. citizen

A Ripon resident

At least age 18 on the date of the next election

Not in prison or on parole for a felony conviction

Those filing nomination papers are required to submit forms and fees by 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8 at the SJC Registrar of Voters office, 44 N. San Joaquin St.
