After 16 years as principal at Ripon Elementary School, Mike Larson will soon bid adieu.
The Ripon Unified school board acknowledged his retirement at Monday’s monthly session.
Trustees also announced the appointment of Dana Phelps as the school’s interim principal.
She’ll officially be reassigned on Dec. 4 to work with Larson until Dec. 22, getting trained on the specific duties at the elementary school site.
Phelps has been at RUSD for the past 17 years, spending a bulk of that time as a teacher at Colony Oak Elementary School.
She’s currently teaching kindergarten at Ripon Elementary.
“We wish (Larson) well,” said Superintendent Sigrid ‘Ziggy’ Robeson. “We’re grateful for his time here.”
