Kindergarten registration for the Ripon Unified School District is set for Tuesday, March 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Park View Elementary School multi-use building located just south of River Road where it intersects with Wilma Avenue.
Spanish speaking paraprofessionals will be available to assist parents with limited English proficiencies.
Children are eligible to begin kindergarten if they will be five years or older by the first of September.  Students who turn five between September 2 and December 2 will be placed in a traditional kindergarten class that occurs concurrently with the kindergarten registrations, according to district officials.
Beginning March 1 packets will be available at all school site offices.  Forms are also available to be downloaded on line as well as registering through Aeries AIR located at www.riponusd.net under the enrollment tab for parents to begin the process and remember to bring paper work to the registration.
If parents are unable to attend the registration, completed packets must be turned in by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 17 at any elementary school office where they will be time stamped to allow them into the first placement round.
Parents enrolling their child in kindergarten will be given the opportunity to request a school of their choice.  Children with siblings currently enrolled in the requested school will be enrolled first.  Parents must note the sibling information on the request for school placement form.
The remaining children will be placed on a transfer list for the requested school by random selection and then assigned to schools below capacity. Parents who enroll their child after the March 17 deadline will be given the opportunity to request a school of attendance.
If the requested school has capacity and there is not a prioritized transfer list for the requested school, the request will be granted, according to school officials. If there is a prioritized transfer list for the requested school, the child will be placed at the bottom of the priority transfer list and assigned to a school with capacity.
