The smashing of two car windows at Ripon’s Stouffer Park at about 11 a.m. Thursday netted a thief, two purses, wallets and numerous credit cards that were used almost immediately at a community business and in the Stockton area.

A Ripon Police spokesman said patrolmen arrived at the scene within minutes and obtained preliminary information from the owners of the vehicles – each with one broken side window.  The officer said the motorists were parked next to each other in the park’s first parking lot off of Manley Road where a suspect apparently stood between the cars breaking out a side window in each of the two vehicles.

Detective Gordon West quickly responded to the Ripon business where card usage had been tracked in an effort to gain surveillance footage of the suspect.  West secured multiple surveillance images of a female using a stolen credit card at an ATM showing a lone female with dark complexion and a high ponytail.  She was described as wearing large, oval shaped sunglasses, a pink low cut sleeveless shirt and denim shorts.

Further investigation Thursday afternoon found the suspect had continued using many of the victim’s cards north of Ripon and into the Stockton area.  Based on the method of operation used by the suspect, officers believe there may be other victims of similar burglaries in the area.

“We believe the quality of the surveillance photographs are sufficient to identify the female suspect involved,” Detective West said.  Anyone with information about either of the crimes or the identity of the suspect shown in the photographs is urged to contact West at (209) -599-2102.
