The City of Ripon recently kicked off efforts that comply with Gov. Jerry Brown’s request calling for “every Californian to conserve water in every way possible.”
From now through Oct. 1 – unless extended by the Ripon City Council – residents are required to do the following under the ordinance:
• Use water hoses equipped with a shut-off valve or nozzle when washing their vehicle, sidewalks or driveway.
• No watering of any type from noon to 6 p.m.
• Watering is prohibited on Mondays.
• Folks living in homes ending with even number addresses are allowed to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
• Those in home with odd number addresses can water o Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
For violators, public works will give two friendly-reminder notices before assessing any penalties.
After two warnings, first-time violators will pay a $25 fine if cited within that first year.
The fine doubles to $50 for repeat violators during the same one-year stretch.
If that’s not enough, they could pay a $100 fine for that third strike within the one-year span and $200 after that.
