The public is being invited to tour the Ripon Police Department quarters on Wilma Avenue on Wednesday from 2 until 7 p.m.

It is the fifth year in a row where they will conduct tours of the facility. Guests will be able to see various police equipment as well as view demonstrations.

Also on display are the police vehicles used in day-to-day activities as well as the department’s SWAT vehicle used mostly on search warrants.  In the dispatch center citizens will view the 80 some TV screens that keep officers in the office as well as in their patrol vehicles a virtual view of what is happening throughout the community.

Ripon’s law enforcement professionals from the chief of police down to the patrol officers,  dispatchers, and volunteers are expected to be on hand to answer pertinent questions from members of the public.  During the course of the year, the department divides the city into four patrol areas and invites the citizens living in those areas of town to take part in discussions within the department.
