RIPON — Elected leaders are looking to secure funding to enhance Main Street.

At tonight’s meeting in the City of Ripon Council Chambers, they’re scheduled to give staff – in this case, either city administrator Leon Compton or city engineer Kevin Werner – the authority to execute federal and / or state funding from the Caltrans for the purpose of improving Main Street, from Acacia Avenue to Nourse Street.

Included, according to Werner’s Feb. 29 letter to the city council, would be about $400,000 designated specifically for landscaping and beautification.

“Examples of improvements could include replacing the wood trellises with brick columns and a metal trellis (similar to what you see on the previous phase of Main Street) along with miscellaneous landscaping improvements,” he said.

Staff is currently working with Caltrans to receive approval to program the funding and move forward with project, Werner added.

In other agenda items, Council could:

• Approve the destruction of records that are of no further administrative, legal or fiscal value. The department heads along with city officials have since reviewed the registry.

•  Accept the City of Ripon’s investment policy quarterly review, from Oct. 11 through Dec. 11.

The Council Chambers is located at Ripon City Hall, 259 N. Wilma St.
