Ripons Magpie Antiques on Vintage magazine cover

Ripon’s Magpie Antiques is on the cover of Today’s Vintage magazine published monthly by Lucky Clover Publishing in Phoenix, Ariz.

“Everyone is gearing up for fall. Magpie Antiques – and all things inspiring, Ripon, CA,” reads the teaser for the cover which shows a slice of the store’s collections inside.

An article inside about shows another picture from Magpie Antiques – that of a scarecrow christened “Queen Maggie” by Magpie owner Janet Dyk. “Queen Maggie” is the store’s entry into Ripon’s community-wide scarecrow contest being held throughout the month of October. The royalty creation features “pitchfork” wings, a “twig-tiara,” plus an old coffee bin for a head, its body an olive bucket, and its rear end a Victrola horn adorned with vintage yardsticks for feathers.

Magpie Antiques was recently voted Business of the Year 2014. A reception celebrating that red-letter day attracted 250 visitors to the store, according to Dyke, lifelong Manteca resident and a retired employee of the Manteca Unified School District. She is also currently a member of the board of the San Joaquin County Office of Education. The evening event was also Dyk’s way of showing her appreciation to her customers who enjoyed wine and hors d’oeuvres during the evening gathering.

Copies of the Today’s Vintage magazine are available at Magpie Antiques. The store is located at 140 S. Walnut Ave., Suite D, in historic downtown Ripon.
