The San Joaquin County Registrar of Voters office in Stockton announced the final results this week for the Nov. 2 elections.

Several close races were all but decided including Manteca Unified school board Area 5 involving Don Scholl and Chuck Carpenter.

Scholl, 46, will more than likely take over the post occupied by Vern Gebhardt, who opted against a second term. He tallied 8,807, edging Carpenter (8,632) by 175 votes.

Scholl is the Superintendent of the Parks, Landscapes and Sport Field Division for the City of Tracy’s Public Works Department.

He’s served or led various boards and committees, including the Northern California Chapter Sports Turf Managers Association and the district’s voter-approved Measure M group.

Carpenter is a longtime cattle buyer. He was encouraged to seek office a few years ago after strongly coming out against the location of the multi-purpose room at Shasta School.

Incumbent Evelyn Moore secured her re-election bid in Area 5, garnering 10,633 votes.

Nancy Teicheira and Manuel Medeiros also ran successful campaigns.

Teicheira once again defeated her Area 4 challenger, Bill Van Ryn, winning, 12,589-10-318.

Medeiros also claimed victory by nearly the same margin. The longtime board member beat out Joey Ermitanio in the Area 2 race, 12,245-10,128.
