For Sister Ann Venita Britto and her Ministry of Caring, the Christmas luncheon is always the biggest one of the year for seniors regardless of their religious affiliations.

This year’s holiday get-together is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 19, at St. Anthony’s gymnasium, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Included will be a hot meal with all of the trimmings. Admission is free.

Sister Ann, along with Arlene Auch, Alice Corriea, Carole Manowski and Tish Partch – they’re part of her Ministry of Caring volunteer crew – spent Wednesday putting together the favors for the expected 300 or so in attendance.

They recently completed the Christmas-themed table centerpieces.

“This (luncheon) is also a favorite of the Bishop,” said Sister Ann, referring to Bishop Stephen Blaire from the Diocese of Stockton.

He’s scheduled to attend this special function along with those from St. Jude Care Center (formerly Palm Haven), Prestige Senior Living, Merrill Gardens, The Commons at Union Ranch, Valley CAPS, and Almond Blossom, to name a few.

Entertainment will be provided by the Jubilee Singers along with a group of students from St. Anthony’s School, who will perform Christmas carols.

The gym is located at the corner of Fremont and Sutter streets in Manteca.
