FRESNO  (AP) — A federal jury has awarded a California man $425,000 who claimed he was wrongfully jailed by Fresno County authorities for violating his probation.

The Fresno Bee reports jurors reached its verdict following a four-day trial in U.S. District Court and awarded James Quinn of Clovis, who said his civil rights were violated after his arrest in 2007 for allegedly not turning in his probation reports.

Quinn said he met his probation requirements, including attending Alcoholics Anonymous classes, after he pleaded guilty to DUI in 2005. Quinn also says authorities denied him his heart medication while he was in jail and that he lost $64,000 in a wholesale produce business venture.

Fresno County Administrative Officer John Navarrette says the county board will discuss whether to pursue further legal action.
