LOS ANGELES (AP) — A dispute over a bag of dog poop has ended in the acquittal of a Los Angeles County judge.

The Los Angeles Times says a jury acquitted Superior Court Judge Craig Richman of misdemeanor battery on Thursday.

Connie Romero testified that Richman pushed her from behind near his Chatsworth home last July and that she suffered cuts and scrapes.

The judge testified that Romero became abusive and pushed him after he asked her to pick up a bag of dog waste she’d dropped in the street.

Richman will return to his downtown LA courthouse on Monday. He’d been transferred to Chatsworth after being charged.

His attorney, James Blatt, says the judge is pleased to return to a job that he loves.
