• WIKILEAKS FIGURE HONORED IN PRIDE PARADE: SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — An imprisoned U.S. Army private charged in a massive leak of U.S. secrets to the WikiLeaks website will serve as an honorary grand marshal in this year’s San Francisco Pride parade.

Parade organizer Gary Virginia said Friday that Chelsea Manning — formerly known as Bradley Manning — was chosen to make amends for a controversy last year. Manning was named an honorary grand marshal ahead of the 2013 parade, but had the honor revoked.

Sean Sala, a co-founder of the American Military Partner Association — a group that advocates for same-sex military families — says Manning is a traitor and is calling for a boycott of the parade.

• DEFENDANT IN GANG RAPE PLEADS GUILTY: MARTINEZ . (AP) — A last defendant in the gang rape of a 16-year-old Northern California girl outside a high school dance has pleaded guilty as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Forty-seven-year-old John Crane pleaded guilty to statutory rape in exchange for a three-year sentence as part of a plea deal in Contra Costa County Superior Court on Friday.

The deal allows Crane to be released from custody with time served.

Authorities said the girl was beaten, robbed and sexually abused by numerous men over two hours outside the dance at Richmond High School in 2009. Police discovered her heavily intoxicated, partially nude and unconscious under a picnic table.

Five other men have already been convicted for their roles in the attack.
