Street fair offers safety, green living tips

The Community Emergency Response team is helping stage a safety fair as part of this weekend’s 15th annual Crossroads of California Street Fair in downtown Manteca.

It is one of several new attraction including GK Music providing local entertainment both days on the Library Park gazebo stage, a PG&E sponsored “Green Street” along Maple Avenue designed to promote eco-friendliness and to show how you can save electricity and natural gas, as well as a 40-foot trailer with video games and s small train that will weave through the fair.

The street fair has close to 400 vendors offering everything from arts and crafts, food, and information on services and clubs to unique items for sale. The street fair is open Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Advance discount tickets are available for the Crossroads Street Fair carnival’s five-day run that starts March 30 are available until noon on Wednesday at the Manteca Visitors Center at Orchard Valley on Grove Street near the bell tower. Ride books worth $30 are being sold in advance for $15.

The carnival takes place Wednesday through Sunday at Orchard Valley between Best Buy and JC Penney. Hours Wednesday and Thursday are noon to 8 p.m. and then noon to 11 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
