Swamp rock, rockabilly bands in concert April 17 at Rookies Sports Bar & Grill

Swamp rock ’n rockabilly night is coming to Manteca.

Johnny Gunn along with Kurt Crasper and The Wolftickets will headline the performance on Saturday, April 17, at Rookies Sports Bar & Grill.

Gunn is a Bay Area product. He’s played with Eddie Money, Cold Blood, Bandido, The Tomkatz, Pacific Brass and Electric, Gypsy Rose, Count Floyd, Solar Winds, Back Road, Hired Guns, Metallica, Tesla, Y&T, Night Ranger, and Ian Gillan’s Band.

Crasper was influenced by the San Francisco music scene of the 1960s and ’70s. He created a unique sound by combining hard-driving Classic Southern Rock mixed with some Soul, Latin and R&B flavor.

This sound has also been called “fushion Rockabilly.”

Rookies can be found at the Manteca Family Fun Center, 1251 E. Yosemite Ave.

Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 o’clock.

Cost is $10. No one under 21 will be admitted.

In addition, Gunn, Crasper and the Wolftickets will be performing May 19 at the Pine Street Bar and Grill in Livermore.

On May 22, Crasper and the Wolftickets, the Moonshiners, and Tony T and the Pendletons will perform at the Modesto Car Show Classic beginning at 11 a.m.
