Three opportunities to make joyous noise

If music gets you in the mood for Christmas and you like to sing there are two opportunities for you to join others in the community to make a joyous noise.

There is also a free workshop for young aspiring barbershop singers.

Manteca Community

Choir rehearsals

The Manteca Community Choir starts rehearsals for this year’s Christmas Cantata on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Manteca Presbyterian Church, North and Main streets Subsequent rehearsals are on Sundays on Nov, 3, 10, 14, 24 and Dec. 1 with the actual performance on Dec. 8 at 7 p.m.

There are no fees and no auditions. There are also a few songs for children. For more information call Anne Talcott at 480-1440.





Ripon Oratorio

Society rehearsals

The Ripon Oratorio Society will begin rehearsals for Handel’s “Messiah” on Sunday, Nov 3.  Rehearsals will follow on the next three Sundays, the 10, 17t, and t24. These are held at Immanuel Christian Reformed Church in Ripon, at the corner of 4th and Orange Streets.  Each one will begin at 3 p.m. 

Singers are needed and welcome. Singers are urged to bring their “Messiah” score, the F. Schrimer edition with them.

The presentation of the “Messiah” will be on Sunday, Dec.1, at 3 p.m., at the Immanuel Christian Reformed Church.  For more information please call or text 996-0468.

 

Youth Barbershop

Workshop Saturday



 An all -day barbershop music workshop for high school and college students takes place Saturday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Manteca High Performing Arts Center. It is designed for both male and female students. There is no charge.

 There will be a free public performance at 5 p.m. to end the workshop sponsored by the Golden Valley Chorus. For more information call Marc Jantzen at 401-7545
