There is a new Sushi restaurant in town.
It’s at 524 North Main Street.
The longtime dream of Gigi Williams and her husband Dennis is coming to life with Sushi chef Manny Juarez, whose had made a name for himself with his artistic presentations
Juarez graduated from the Delta College Culinary School some nine years ago in Stockton. He not only studied Sushi, but also the skill of making German and Greek entrees.  Juarez comes from the Raw restaurant in Modesto to join the Williams team along with two side cooks.
The renovation of the restaurant that had been in the same location for 14 years was under the direction of Dennis Williams who did much of the work himself.  New light fixtures hang over the 12 tables in the dining room where a team of four waitresses serve their customers as though they were members of their own families.
Former Lathrop Mayor Chaka Santos and his wife were among the first to dine at the restaurant with their grandchildren.  Santos said to look at his grandchildren eat, He said they are picky about food but immediately fell in love with Tokyo Sushi’s offerings.
“I like it all!”  exclaimed granddaughter Navyn Elise Preciado, an 8-year-old at Great Valley Academy.
Grandpa Santos added, “What I have had, I enjoyed everything.”
Staff members, wait staff and cooks, include Minhchau Tran, Phu Tran, Darlene Sitthydeth, Alisa Rolis, Imelda Expinoza, Patrick Tran and Chef Manny Juarez.
The extended menu includes a long list of entrees, appetizers, salad and soup choices, hand rolls, special rolls Nigiri and beverages from hot green tea to Sapporo, to Ozeki Hana Awaka and Hakutsuru Sayuri Nigori Sake.
The hand rolls include spicy Salmon with avocado cucumber/Tobiko along with Snow Crab with avocado cucumber and lettuce/Tobiko.  Entrees on the menu offer such choices as Chicken Katsu with Panko Chicken, salad and rice just one of many on the complete menu.
Wednesday night saw a “soft opening” for a few members of the community.  The restaurant opened for the public on Thursday offering take-out as well as in house dining.
