Three Manteca-based competitive cheer teams from Victorious Elite Allstars (VEA) put on a sensational show at a National Competition in Anaheim.

The teams powered through their routines on March 21-22 at the 2009 American Showcase Cheer and Dance National Championships taking home three top awards: Junior Cheer team took 1st place, Senior Cheer team took 2nd place, Mini Cheer Team took a Superior award and the organization received an overall nomination for Best Sportsmanship.

“Our athletes worked very hard in perfecting their routines. Many coaches and athletes from around the country commended our routines and choreography.” said Amy Acaya, Executive Director and Co-founder of VEA.  “We are so very proud of our athletes.”

VEA is a Manteca nonprofit cheer and dance organization that serves local youth ages 3 to18.

But it is more than just competitive cheer and dance; VEA’s foundational roots are based on respect, leadership, commitment, and character development. For the 2009-10 season, VEA’s nonprofit board is incorporating the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets in daily activities for every age group in VEA. By integrating these Developmental Assets, VEA is promoting youth development, resiliency, and prevention to ensure the youth have the life skills to thrive into adulthood.

VEA coaches comprise a highly trained, professional team of cheer, tumbling and dance instructors. They constantly encourage the youth to be the best they can be and to reach their potential in everything they do. VEA has a practice facility with over 7,000 square feet, 3 spring floors, training equipment and a tumble track. Tryouts for next season are being held on April 20-21  from 5 to 9 p.m.

Rev up the chainsaws. Carving up California is back in the news. And we owe it all to raw political power grabs.
