A combined flea market / yard sale?
The Manteca Senior Center’s Senior Advisory Committee and Manteca Police Department’s SHARP division or “Seniors Helping Area Residents and Police” are doing just that on Saturday, July 26, at the Senior Center, 259 Cherry Lane.
“When we do it together (with SHARP) this can become a yard-sale paradise,” said Brandy Clark, who is the advisor to the Senior Advisory Committee as well as the center’s director.
The Senior Advisory Committee will be conducting the indoor flea market, featuring 30 vendors selling garage and new items, from arts & crafts to collectibles inside the Manteca Senior Center.
At the same time – from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. – SHARP will host the backyard sale directly behind senior center building. Up for grabs will be items from the storage units, including furniture, sporting goods, household items, toys, electronics, to name a few.
The SHARP Backyard Sale will also take place on Friday, July 25, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to Capt. Marty Maldonado, proceeds from those two days will help fund the R-U-OK program.
“SHARP operates this automated phone system where we check up on people at their homes. If there’s no response, an officer will stop by and pay that person a visit,” she said.
SHARP, in addition, is hosting Bingo at the Manteca Senior Center on Sunday beginning at 12:30 p.m. Buy-in is $15 and includes a hot dog, chips and drink (bottled water or soda) meal.
