Anna Darline MacCready
55-year member of Girl Scouts

Anna “Darline” MacCready, 80, entered into rest on April 24, 2010 in Modesto, California. She was born on November 4, 1929 in Quanta, Texas, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Auther and Hattie Pruitt. She was preceded in death by her daughter Anna Marie MacCready and siblings; D.L., Bob, Pauline, and Ruby-Gene.

Mrs. MacCready is survived by her husband of 64 years Don MacCready. She has 5 loving children, Donna Darline Cardoso of Ripon, Dorthy Diane Gonzalez of Stockton, Debra Delores Stacy of Colorado, Donald Earl MacCready Jr., Palm Springs, and Dana Deanne Beasley of Riverbank. She was a very special grandmother to 9 grandchildren; Michael, Michele, Christina, David, Amanda, Marisa, Joshua, Jonathan, and Heather. She was blessed with 13 great-grandchildren. In addition, she is survived by her brother Mickey Manning of Yorba Linda.

Anna worked for Tri-Valley Cannery for over 15 years as a supervisor. She was a past dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints – Riverbank Ward when she and her husband made their home in Riverbank for five years. When Anna and her husband Donald moved back to the Manteca/ Ripon area they were members of the LDS Church Northland Ward.  She was an active member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary Post 6311  Manteca. She was very proud of being a 55-year member of the Girl Scouts of America; in Alaska and the Manteca area where she was known as “Snow-Bird.” During her active time with the Girl Scouts she held many different offices including Neighborhood Chairman. Anna had a gift of gardening; she loved flowers and was known for her “green-thumb.” She enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her family. She loved dancing and the Christmas holiday season; decorating, cooking and family gatherings always brought great joy to her heart. She had a strong love for the Gospel; always reading and singing about the word of God.  Anna was an extremely devoted wife to her husband Don, who referred to her as “Baby Doll” for over 64 years. Her bond with her children was like no other; their love for each other was unconditional. She was an amazing Grandma to her grandchildren always doting over her legacy. Anna will be remembered as a woman who had a zest for life always having a positive attitude during any situation in life.  Her generosity and love toward others will never be forgotten.  
   
Mrs. MacCready services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 29, 2010 from 1 to 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Following her visitation a Celebration of Life service will be held at 7 p.m. also at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home. A second visitation will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints on Friday, April 30, from 10 to 10:45 a.m. followed by funeral service  at 11 a.m. at 6060 Northland Rd. Manteca. She will be laid to rest at Cherokee Memorial Park – Lodi, California. An on-line guest book is available for condolences at www.plfryandson.com.
