Arthur R. Sanchez was taken back to heaven after 80 years of life. He is remembered by his family and friends as a strong, caring and loving husband, father and man of God. He will be missed by all, but he was ready to return to the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ. His life is being celebrated by his wife, Genevieve Sanchez, his children, Teresa McFetridge, Michael and Mari Sanchez and Laura and Bruce Gesek. He has 8 grandchildren: Kenneth McFetridge, Alexis Sanchez, Cory Sanchez, Caleb Gesek, Daniel Gesek, Sarah Gesek, Bryan Sanchez and Elizabeth Gesek.
Arthur was born on Nov. 19, 1928 in Colorado. His family moved to Stockton when he was a small child. His father, Charles Sanchez and mother, Emma Sanchez, had seven children in which Arthur was the eldest. Arthur’s siblings are Edward Sanchez, Bernice Reyes, Stella Beltran, Evelyn Sanchez, Christina Aceves and the late Dolores Smith.
Arthur was married in 1953 to Genevieve Benitez and settled down in Stockton, and later moved to Lathrop. He worked at Stockton State Hospital as a psychiatric technician and then studied and received his degree as a psychiatric nurse.
Arthur’s important job was that of a Deacon for the Roman Catholic Church. His talents as a man of faith were utilized at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Lathrop where he touched many lives.
His joy of life was most deeply found in his love of our Lord, Jesus Christ, but also in his love for nature. He loved gardening, taking walks and collecting rocks from various trips he made with his wife, children and friends. He would always come up with a story surrounding the rocks and their beauty. His zest for life was an example to everyone. His desire for us all was that we too would remember what he found important and that was the love of Jesus Christ, and he desired that we would all cherish that love and enjoy the life that God gave us.
Please join his family in remembering his life and the special memories we all have of a simple man of God.
