Bertha (Giron) Battaion, age 72, entered into rest on December 14, 2012 in Manteca. She was born on April 2, 1940 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was a resident of Manteca for 15 years.
Bertha is survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerry Battaion of Manteca, her children Sandra Ferreira (Manny) of Manteca, Tim Battaion (Audree) of Roseville, Debra Harman (Dave) of Manteca, Jim Battaion (Nicole) of Clovis, and Jeff Battaion (Jen) of Fresno. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren Amanda Bloodgood and husband Wes, Kyle Harman, Leighann Battaion, Karsyn Battaion, Ryan Battaion, Matthew Battaion, Rachel Battaion, Jessica Battaion, Kristina Battaion, Kevin Battaion, Jeffrey Battaion, Briana Battaion, Becky Battaion, Timmy Battaion, Michael Battaion and Jordan Battaion. She is also survived by her siblings Helen Giron, Ronnie Giron, Trinie Giron and Margaret Giron all of Las Cruces, NM, Rudy Giron of Alamogordo, NM, and Adelfia Giron of Los Angeles, CA and brother in laws and sister in laws, Mike and Nancy Battaion of Dublin, CA and Dave and Linda Battaion of Oregon.
Bertha last worked at New Haven Elementary School for 12 years. She was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Her family said, “She was an inspiration to all of her friends and family.”
PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, is honored to be serving the Battaion family. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 3pm to 5pm at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home. A Mass is scheduled on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 12:30pm at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca. Final resting place will be St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Road, Escalon.
