Carmel Abrew, 93, entered into rest on January 30, 2018.  She was born in Manteca on November 9, 1924. Carmel was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Manuel Abrew, her sister Margarite Abrew Johnson, and parents John and Delfina Brazil. 
   Mrs. Abrew leaves behind sons Melvin (Judy) and Bill (Monica) and a sister Marie Duran.  She was blessed with five grandchildren, Lisa, (David) Barney, Edward (Jenn) Abrew, John (Monica) Abrew, Jeff (Charli) Abrew and Lindsey (Chris) Rogers.  She also has 12 great grandchildren, Chelsea (Clayton) Edsall, David Barney, Devin, Braydin and Laikin Abrew, Malia Nelson, Luke and Payton Abrew, JP, Maximo and Constantino Abrew and Owen Rogers.  In addition she has two great great grandchildren Weston and Rylee Edsall.
   Carmel was a life long resident of Manteca.  She was born on a ranch on the south west corner of Highway 120 and Jacktone Road.  A graduate of Manteca High, Carmel entered into the work force working part time for P.G. & E. during her senior year.  She was a life long bookkeeper for several local businesses before retiring.  She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
   Carmel and her husband enjoyed traveling and meeting new people.  Together they traveled several times across the country by car, motorhome, train and airplane.  They also traveled to Europe.  She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  She will be deeply missed.

1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. followed by a vigil at
6:30 p.m. held at  P.L. Fry and Son, 290 North Union Road, Manteca.  A mass will be held, Wednesday February 7, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street, Manteca.  She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S.
