Carmen Ann Walls, 74, went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2009.

She was born February 12, 1934 in Fort Collins, CO to the late William & Carol Dickman. She was a lifetime resident of Manteca , graduating from Manteca High in 1951.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 56 years, Mr. Tom W. Walls; three children: Mike Walls and wife Sharon of Manteca, Linda Fourmont of Stockton, and Jim Walls of Manteca; seven grandchildren: Jared Walls, Lindsay Walls, Trevor Fourmont, Breanne Fourmont, Karlee Davis and husband Ben, Vanessa Bowman and husband Chris, and Elisabeth Knapp; four great grandchildren: Mykeal Knapp, Masen Knapp, Natalie Johnson-Meneses, and Frankie Davis ; sister Nancy VanSandt of Manteca; and many nieces and nephews.

Carmen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren beyond words; she was often told she spoiled them, in which they never complained. She was a very strong willed woman, often stubborn and set in her ways but always level headed. She was the peacekeeper of the family. The dedicated Christian she was, attending Escalon Presbyterian Church for over 16 years, and  volunteering at Haven of Peace, she would always lend a helping hand to any one in need. She was truly a unique woman and with a heart of gold.

Carmen was an amazing cook; her family will always remember her famous pecan pies and various other baked goods. She loved working in her garden caring for her flowers, and she especially loved her roses. She also enjoyed listening to soft classical music, reading and traveling. Carmen and Tom often traveled to visit her family in Colorado and Nebraska , as well as her loving husband’s family in Georgia. For their 25th wedding anniversary they were able to take a romantic second honeymoon to Hawaii.

Visitation will be Monday, February 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road in Manteca . Funeral Services are Tuesday, February 17, at 10 a.m. at Escalon Presbyterian Church, 1612 1st Street , Escalon. Burial will be private.
