Chestine "Jane" Austin, age 100, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Manteca, California. Born on May 26, 1925, in Madison, California, Jane lived a full century marked by dedication to family, community, and a life well–lived.
Jane began her working life at See's Candy and later retired as a retail clerk from Thrifty's. Her strong work ethic and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike.
Family was the cornerstone of Jane's life. She is lovingly remembered by her children: Michael Andreetta of Roseville and Carla Hiatt of Manteca (Richard). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Natalie Rosas (Jeff), Nicholas Andreetta (Monika), and Jode Cordone; great–grandchildren Abigail Rosas, Katelyn Rosas (Jesse), Andrew Rosas, Vittoria (Rhea) Andreetta, Isla Andreetta, Sophia Cordone, and Gabriella Cordone; and great–great–grandson Tino Ayala. She also leaves behind many step–grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members who were touched by her warmth and generosity.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents James W. Tilly and Grace T. Godding; her husband Bobbie Austin; her sister Virginia Lehman; stepchildren Sharon, Philip, and Bill; Maureen Andreetta and her ex–husband Edmond Andreetta.
Throughout her life, Jane found joy in many pursuits. She was an active member of the San Joaquin Valley Rangers and had a deep interest in genealogy. She loved cooking for those she cared about and enjoyed staying active with Curves fitness center. Most of all, she cherished time spent with family and friends.
Jane will be remembered for her willingness to help others—whether family members needing support or neighbors seeking a helping hand. She took special pride in bringing people together and was often the driving force behind organizing family reunions that kept generations connected.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who cared for Jane at The Commons at Union Ranch and Lifeguard Hospice. A special thank you goes to her devoted caregiver Mary McKenzie for the compassion she showed during Jane's final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lifeguard Hospice or the American Legion Local 249 in honor of Jane's memory.
