Doreen Anita Oliveira, 84, entered into rest on October 8, 2011 in Manteca, CA. She was born on January 26, 1927 in Oakland, California. She is preceded in death by her husband Richard Oliveira. She is also preceded in death by her siblings; Bud Bowman and Doris Bowman and her brother-in- laws and sister-in-laws Melvin and Eva Freitas, Joe and Josie Caldeira, Leonard and Leonora Perry and Sonny Andrade.

Doreen is survived by her son Victor Oliveira. She was blessed with two grandchildren Meloni Oliveira and Victor Oliveira Jr. She was very close to her niece and nephew Therese and Gary Freitas and their children. She has many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws that survive her; Margaret and Bob Arndell, Melvin and Janet Oliveira and Clifford and Kathy Lewis. In addition, Doreen is survived by many other nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members.

Doreen was a resident of Manteca for 35 years where she and her husband made their home in Camilla Gardens for over 20 years. For the past 4 years she was a resident at Merrill Gardens where she loved the staff and met many friends.  She was a member of St. Anthony’s Portuguese organization council 59 where she served as a grand officer and secretary for many years. She welcomed family and friends in her home often entertaining them with food and fellowship. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, gardening, arts and crafts, and creating beautiful dry flower arrangements. Doreen will be remembered as a sweet lady who will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Oliveira’s services are being arranged by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by service at 11:00 a.m. both held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at Cherokee Memorial Park.
