Earl Edison Mason, 92, passed away quietly on December 14, 2019 of natural causes.  He resided in Manteca for 9 years, and previously in Livermore for over 40 years.
Earl graduated from Oregon State University, eventually receiving his license in Civil and Structural Engineering.  In 1960, he settled in Livermore with his wife, Shirley, and six children.  Earl went on to establish his own business of Mason & Associates, Inc. in 1961 (later becoming Associated Professions, Inc.)  before retiring in 2003.  For Earl to have maintained the small business for over 40 years was a major achievement professionally.  Earl was also a dedicated Rotarian. He served as Rotary President in 1974-1975, with participation in major fundraisers. Rotary International applauds his 64 years as a wonderful member of the Rotary family.
Earl proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Shirley, in April 2012.  He is survived by six children: Judith Ricks, Virginia Horgan, David Mason (Maria Mason), James Mason (Stephanie Levy), Vicki Reed (Ken), and Jerry Mason (Theresa Mason), eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Earl’s interests were varied. He was an avid bowler and had a lifelong love of all types of fishing. His family vacations often were camping, fishing, snow sports and Disneyland.  Earl and Shirley loved traveling abroad.  While residing in Manteca, he enjoyed socializing with his friends and neighbors. Later, he resided at the Commons of Union Ranch and he grew to love the staff, caregivers and fellow residents.
A celebration of life will be planned in early 2020.
