Estelle Roberts Hawes passed peacefully May 5, 2011. She lived, and passed, in Albuquerque New Mexico near family.

An only child, Stel is survived by the family she loved: 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. An avid breeder, her beloved Rottweilers were the major part of her adult life. Her other life-long passion was theater. An enthusiastic performer, Ohlone College and Fremont Community Theater were among the many outlets for her to pursue her acting bug. As she grew older, she explored painting with enthusiasm. In later years, she collected elephant figures and doodads and supported their habitats through donations to the Zoo. Mom asked donations be sent to the San Diego Zoo, PO Box 12055, San Diego 92101 in her name and her beloved elephants.
