Florence J. (Glascock) Papouschek passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at the age of 90. Raised on a ranch in Montana and schooled at the now-famous one-room Huntley School of Saco, Mont., Flo pursued a career in nursing and served her country honorably as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army on the hospital ship USS St. Olaf in the Atlantic and Pacific theaters during World War II. Flo married Ralph “Bud” Papouschek and together they pursued many interests including traveling with a camper and spending summers on the river delta east of the San Francisco Bay Area. Long a resident of Union City and recently Manteca, Flo remained active with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and recently enjoyed outings with the ladies of the Red Hat Society. Flo will be remembered for her high plains hardiness, old fashioned practicality, and warm, mothering sensitivity.

Flo is survived by daughters Patricia Albarico of Knights Ferry, and Jeannie Shults of Tracy, and grandchildren, Natalie and Tony Albarico of Knights Ferry, as well as Tessa Bunch (Michael) and Christin Shults of Tracy. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph and a daughter, Jeanette.
