Frank R. Machado a prominent dairy farmer in Manteca, Oakdale, Merced and Escalon passed to rest peacefully surrounded by his loving wife and children in his home on Wednesday, February 3, at age 86 years, 11 months and 3 days.
He married Mabel Santos of Turlock on December 4, 1949, his loving wife of 60 years. His passion for dairy farming became hers and working side by side they built their dream together that they lovingly have handed down to their seven children. He was a caring and giving husband and father. His greatest joy was his time spent with his family and friends. He will be remembered for his wisdom, knowledge, generosity and leadership.
He will be missed greatly by his two daughters and five sons, Marlene E. Machado-Danbom (husband Andy Danbom) of Modesto, Marianne E. Machado (husband Ellis Calija) of Manteca, Frank A. Machado (wife Beatrice) of Livingston, Robert A. Machado (wife Tina) of Escalon, Donald A. Machado (wife Karan) of Manteca, John A. Machado (wife Lucy) of Manteca, David A. Machado (wife Juline) of Ripon and eleven grandchildren Gina and Leah Machado of Livingston, Rob, Sarah and Justin Machado of Escalon, Donnie and Kayla Machado of Manteca, Marissa, Johnny and Jason Machado of Manteca, and Jordan Machado of Ripon. He leaves his wife and family with countless memories that will be cherished the rest of our lives, we love you very much.
He was the fifth child of eight to John R. and Florinda Machado born in Feteira, Terceira, Azores on March 1, 1923. He is survived by his sister Alice F. Machado and brother Joe J. Machado both of Manteca. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, John R. Machado of Modesto, A.R. (Tony) Machado of Hughson, Mary Borges of Manteca and two infant siblings from the Azores.
He was one of the original directors of Mid Cal National Bank. A member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, U.P.E.C., S.E.S. and Luso American. He was a member and past captain of the Merced County Sheriffs Posse and past president and director of both F.E.S.M. and M.R.P.S. He was also a Director of California Gold Creamery, Stanislaus Water Users District and a member of various other dairy organizations.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 1 to 6 p.m. at P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North Street, Manteca. A Celebration of Life Mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Road, Escalon.
