Gerrie Van Der Hoek

Gerrie Van Der Hoek went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2022 in

Modesto at the age of 74. On December 3, 1947, Gerrie Mensonides was the sixth child born to Jan and Maaike Mensonides in Exmorra, Friesland the Netherlands. 

   When she was five years old, the family traveled by ship to America, they lived in Artesia, CA for 3 years; then moved to Modesto, CA where she attended Ripon Christian, followed by 1 year at Calvin College. In 1968 she married Jelle Van Der Hoek, they began their dairy business in Modesto that is still in operation today. Gerrie attended church at Modesto CRC as her faith was very important to her. She loved to cook for people and fellowship with family and friends. She will be remembered for her generosity, fun loving personality and big heart.

   Gerrie leaves behind her husband of almost 54 years, Jelle Van Der Hoek, her children, Michelle Mueller, Michael Van Der Hoek (Kari) and Jay Van Der Hoek

(Beverly), her grandchildren, Grace, Sarah, Charlotte, Hannah, Annaliese, Jacob, Reed, Thys, Reagan, Eric, Aaron and Andra. Gerrie also leaves behind her siblings, Pete Mensonides, Corrie Jacobi, Raymond Mensonides, Jimmy Mensonides, Letty Mensonides, and Clara Mensonides. She is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Markus Mueller and her brothers, Louis and Ted Mensonides, sister-in-laws Eleanor and Terry Mensonides and brother-in-law John R. Jacobi.

   Deegan Chapel is honored to serve the Van Der Hoek family. A private graveside service is scheduled for Tuesday, March 29th at

10 a.m. at Ripon Cemetery followed by a memorial service at Modesto Christian Reformed Church at 11:30.
