Gertrude Hein passed away peacefully on July 8, 2025, in Manteca, California, at the age of 92. Born on August 30, 1932, in Arkansas, Gertrude made Manteca her home for the past 85 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, and her two children, Deborah McCoy and John Goodell. She is survived by her loving grandchildren, Amanda McCoy and Roger Cook, and her cherished great-grandchildren, Scott Cook and Arianna Cook.
Gertrude came from a large family of eight children and was the seventh born. She held the honor of being the last surviving sibling, a testament to her strength and resilience.
A proud lifetime member of the VFW, Gertrude had a lively spirit and a deep love for conversation, often enjoying long talks over a cold beer or a glass of red wine. Thursdays were her favorite always reserved for lunch with friends and a fresh trip to the hair salon, a weekly tradition that brought her great joy.
Family meant everything to Gertrude. She especially loved the holidays and birthdays, always making them special. One of her greatest pleasures was spending time with her granddaughter Amanda watching classic films; Casablanca and Gone with the Wind being among her favorites. She was also a fan of Perry Mason, never missing an episode. Gertrude's warmth, wit, and unconditional love for her family will be dearly missed. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
