Ioannis Volakakis, 65, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 28, 2011 in Manteca. He was born in Greece on July 7, 1946 to Menelaos and Hrysanthe Volakakis. He leaves behind his loving daughter Chryssa Volakakis of Ripon and his siblings, Geogios Volakakis and Sappho Demerouki of Greece.

Before coming to America Ioannis worked as a teacher. He embarked for the United States from his homeland of Greece and has been a resident of Manteca for over 21 years. He was an auto mechanic, owning and operating his own shop. At heart, Ioannis was a true musician as he played the lyra and took much pride in constructing them. Ioannis will be remembered for being a most loving father and a wonderful and respected friend. He will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Arrangements for Mr. Volakakis are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. A Trisagion evening service is scheduled for Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel. A Funeral Service is to be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10 a.m. at The Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, 313 Tokay Ave., Modesto, CA.
