Joan E. Steck “Joanie”, 69, entered into rest on September 13, 2009 in Manteca. She was born on February 3, 1940 in Wilkesbarre, PA. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry and Eleanor Albee.  She was a resident of Manteca for 11 years and previously of Campbell, CA. for 30 years.

Mrs. Steck is survived by her husband of 51 years, Fred Steck of Manteca. Her children are Linda  Benson of Orland, CA., and Ken Steck of Modesto. Her  siblings are Ross Albee and wife Honey, and Dick Albee, both of NY., and Gary Albee and wife Noy of VA. In addition, Joanie was blessed  by 5 grandchildren; Erick and wife Christi, Matthew, Brandon, Heather and Holly and 4 great-grandchildren.  Sisters-in-law, Darlene Marshall  and Marlene Fulton both of Washington state. Father-in-law, Ray  Strange and aunt Hazel Strange both of Napa, CA. She was also  survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews as well as many  loving friends who will miss her dearly.  

 Joanie worked for Sears Roebuck Company in San Jose for over 20 years. She was a huge fan of baseball, football and NASCAR.  Her favorite past time was shopping; she  never missed a great sale.  She also enjoyed her trips with the  Manteca Senior Center.  She adored her two cats; Shy and Tippy.  

The family said, “She was very  loving and caring and adored her role as wife, mom, grandma, and great-grandma.”  

 Mrs. Steck’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation  will be on Friday, Sept. 18, 2009 from 1 to 2 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca.  A Memorial service will follow her visitation at 2 p.m. also held at P.L. Fry  & Son.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made in Joanie’  s name to the American Cancer Society, 207 E. Alpine Avenue, Stockton,  CA. 95204.  An on-line guest book will be available for condolences  at www.plfryandson.com.
