Surrounded by her family, Lucille Margie Traywick passed away peacefully on August 23, 2011 at the age of 84.
Lucille was born in Shady Point, OK. to Cecil and Rosa Ella Chestine on October 30, 1926. She moved to California with her family to the San Joaquin Valley during the prairieland Dust Bowl of the 1930’s. She worked in the fields and orchards of the valley and eventually settled in Manteca with her own family. She retired
from Ad Art Sign Company in 1986. Lucille enjoyed bird-watching and never missed completing her daily crossword puzzle.
Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and siblings; Lillian Ledbetter, Marshal Chestine, Tracy Chestine, Hershal Chestine, Louise Chestine, Bobbi Carson and Cecil W. Chestine.
She is survived by her brother Martin Chestine of Wyoming as well as her children and their spouses; Linda and Gary Owens of Manteca, CA, Donna Welch of Oroville, CA, Brenda Warren of Grants Pass, OR, Larry and Cheryl Davis of Manteca, CA, Rocky and Jill Traywick of Manteca, CA, and Dusty and Juliana Traywick of
Stockton, CA. Lucille was known as “Grandma LuLu” to her 21 grandchildren and their friends, 24 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be private, however a gathering for friends and family will be held to share memories of Lucille. It will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at noon at the home of Linda and Gary Owens, 15377 S. Airport Way, Manteca.
Arrangements are under the direction of PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of San Joaquin, 3888 Pacific Avenue, Stockton, Ca. 95204, whose care of Lucille during her final days was invaluable.
