Mary A. Seamas, 88, entered into rest on Sunday March 27, 2011 in Manteca, California. She was born on July 2, 1922 in Salida, California to the late Mr. and Mrs. Antonio & Telvina Silva. Mary joins her parents in heaven as well as her husband of 41 years Joseph Seamas Sr. and her siblings Joe Silva, Elsie Magee, & Rose Gomes.

Mrs. Seamas is survived by her son Joe J. Seamas Jr. and his wife Veronica of Manteca. She was blessed with one granddaughter, Angela M. Seamas of Manteca. In addition Mary is survived by her two siblings, Tony Silva of Stockton and Delores Everett of Reno.

Mary worked at Manteca Department Store as a retail clerk for over 15 years. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where she was involved with the Legion of Mary. She was a devoted Catholic reading and praying diligently as she never missed a Sunday morning Mass. She was a member of the M.R.P.S. & F.E.S.M. where she loved going to the Festas. She valued her Portuguese heritage and was famous for her Portuguese sweet bread. She enjoyed playing bingo, card games and fishing. The joy of her life was her granddaughter Angela. She supported Angela in all of her athletics and school functions but most importantly she believed in Angela with all of her hopes, dreams and ambitions. Mary was at her happiest when with her family. She enjoyed special get-togethers where they shared food, fun and laughs. Mary will be remembered for her sweet, smart, and witty personality but she’ll especially be remembered as a wonderful mother and an amazing grandmother. She will be missed.

Mrs. Seamas’ services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 1 to 7 p.m. followed by a vigil/ rosary service at 7 p.m., both held at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A mass will be held in her honor on Friday April 1, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church 525 E. North St. Manteca.
