Michael Eugene Neuman, 70 years young, took up his new residence in Heaven on September 9, 2016, after a long battle with dementia and ALS.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Debby; his devoted mother Betty Rhea (Vogt) Neuman; best friends and siblings William (Barbara) Neuman and Leonard (Susan) Neuman; adored children Erik (Seanna) Neuman, Sean (Angela) Neuman, Cori (Rob) Angelino, Zach (Puaolena) Scales, and Chelsea (Josh) VanderVeen.  He was devoted to his grandchildren Jordan, Evan, Emily, Elise, Meredyth and McKennzie Neuman; Samantha, Seth, Isabella and Evan, Angelino, Tyler,  Michael, Julia, Liliani, Aubree and Braxton Scales.
He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, well-loved friends; the mother of his children, Judith Neuman Woodard, and his beloved dog, Willow.
Mike graduated from Stagg High in Stockton, CA in 1964; attended Oregon State University; enlisted in the US Army serving two tours of duty in Vietnam, and graduated from Humphreys College with a degree in electronics and engineering.
He began working for Sandia National Laboratory where he retired after 40 years in 2010.  Mike was a life member of  Tracy VFW Post 1537; a member  and treasurer for Central Grace Community Church in Modesto, and a proud and thankful member of Alcoholics Anonymous.
Mike was an avid fan of the SF Giants and 49er’s.  His favorite earthly place was the ocean.  He loved the Beach Boys, surfing, jazz music, and traveling.  His greatest love was saved for Jesus, followed by his family and friends; all of whom he loved with his whole heart.
Mike’s celebratory service will be held on Friday, September 30th, at 3:00 p.m. at the Modesto Christian Reformed Church, 2620 College Ave., Modesto.
Mike’s personal request was that somber black not be worn; he was especially found of Hawaiian shirts, sports team attire, and cheerful colors.
Donations may be made to Alzheimer’s/Dementia Support Center, 700 McHenry Ave., Suite B, Modesto, 95350 or The Modesto Gospel Mission, 1400 Yosemite Ave., Modesto, 95354.
