Michael Nye, 72, entered into rest on Wednesday, March 3, in Manteca. He was born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold and Mabel Nye on August 16, 1937 in Stockton. He was a resident of Manteca for over 35 years.

Mr. Nye is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years Elsa Nye. He has 3 surviving siblings; Vicki Eick of Bakersfield, Lacey Hocutt of Idaho, and Tim Nye of Sacramento. In addition Michael leaves behind his best friend who was like a sister to him, Gerry Curran of Ripon, and his loving companion Cookie who was always at his side.

Mike retired after 36 years of service in pest control for the U.S. Government.  He attended St. Anthony’s for many years with his wife Elsa. He was a member for several years of the S.H.A.R.P. patrol unit through the Manteca Police Department. He enjoyed Sunday drives to the foothills with his wife and dog Cookie. Mike volunteered many hours to the local rest homes and hospitals taking Cookie, his licensed therapy Australian Sheperd dog around visiting the patients to brighten their days. One of Mike’s greatest achievements was receiving his private pilot’s license. He and his wife often took day trips to different areas around Northern California enjoying the beautiful scenery. Mike also loved entertaining his friends with invites for breakfast and lunch at his home; enjoying old stories and catching up on the latest current events. Mike will be remembered as a loving man who was very giving. He will be missed.

Mr. Nye’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. He will be laid to rest in a private family graveside service. An online guest book is available for special messages to the family at www.plfryandson.com
