Myril Lee Kooken, 87, entered into rest surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, September 9, 2012 in Manteca. She was born October 13, 1924 in Texas to the late Arthur and Effie Harvey.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of 68 years Warren Kenneth Kooken of Manteca. Her children are; Joan Wadlow and husband Earl of Stockton, Troy Brager and wife Diane of Manteca and Marlene Hamel and husband Ernie of Manteca. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren; Vickie Mach and husband Steve, Lance Miller and wife Cheryl, Kellie Tonda and husband Scott, Annette Freman and husband Bobby, Darren Barger, Jeannine Haxton and husband Keith and Joleen Burke. In addition she has 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great  grandchild She has one surviving sibling John Harvey of New Mexico.

Myril was a credit union manager and also worked as a secretary Montezuma Elementary School of Stockton.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxilary Unit # 249, American Business Woman and a Girl Scout leader.  She enjoyed dancing, gardening, sewing and spending time traveling in her RV. She loved her dogs dearly. Most of all Myril loved her family and treasured every moment she spent with them. She was truly devoted to her family. She will be remembered for her smile that would light up a room and her amazing personality. She will be missed immensely.

Arrangements for Mrs. Kooken are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca.  A Chapel Service will be held on Friday, September 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry. She will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery, 3661 East French Camp Road.
