Patricia “Pat” Fontes, 72, entered into rest on Sunday, November 20, 2016 in Manteca. She was born December 6, 1943 in Milwaukee, WI to the late Robert and Patricia Johnson. In heaven she joins her parents as well as her step grandchild Wayne Cardoza and her siblings Norma Jean Johnson and Robert Johnson.
   Patricia leaves behind her daughter Jennifer Settlemoir and husband Mason and two step children Jeff Cardoza and Lisa Steele. She was blessed with three grand children, Patricia LaDonna “Jene” Settlemoir, Blake Thomas Riley Settlemoir and Madison Jean Marie Settlemoir as well as, three step grandchildren Deborah Cardoza, Dalton Montgomery and Tyrah Steele. She adored her two step great granddaughters; Rosalyn and Tatum. In addition, she has three surviving siblings, Daniel Johnson and wife Ruby, Mary Jane Bartko and husband Jim and Gerald Johnson and wife Asia, as well as six nieces and nephews Bobby Johnson, Deborah Johnson, Kim Abel, Jim Bartko, Michael Fontes and Carol Ann Webb. She is also survived by many extended family members who love her dearly.
   Pat grew up in Manteca graduating from Manteca High School 1961. After high school, Pat attended Modesto Jr. College; graduating in 1965 as the first graduating class of MJC. Following her time at MJC, she then decided to continue her education at Chapman University receiving her Master’s degree in Health Care Administration. She was a 50 year employee of Doctor’s Medical Center of Modesto where she was a registered nurse.  Throughout her years at DMC she was recognized for her dedication, care, loyalty and leadership. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, where she prepared young adults into their journey to Catholicism. She enjoyed playing a game of Solitaire or a challenging game of SUDOKU.  Pat loved having family over preparing and baking delicious meals, where no one ever went home hungry. She enjoyed reading especially when it came to mystery novels and daily devotional bible scriptures. She cherished the many friendships that she made throughout the Del Webb Community and enjoyed all of their numerous extracurricular activities. Above all, Pat loved her family immensely; she treasured every moment spent with them. She was wonderful mentor, a compassionate mother and grandmother who always put her family first and foremost; her unconditional love never went unnoticed. Pat will be remembered for her love and loyaltyto both family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
   P.L. Fry is honored to serve the Fontes family. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at
7:00 p.m., both held at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. A mass will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 12:00 noon at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 525 E. North St., Manteca. She will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, 17871 S. Carrolton Rd., Escalon, CA. An online guest book is available for condolences to the family at www.plfryandson.com
