Richard L. Detmers

Detmers Richard bw

Richard L. Detmers, 81 entered into rest on December 6, 2015 in Modesto, CA. He was born on September 4, 1934 in Los Angeles to the late Jack and Pearl Detmers.  Richard is survived by his loving family; wife of 57 years Bernice, children; Richard Detmers, James and Nancy Detmers and Deanne Detmers-Raskin. He was blessed with seven grandchildren; Michael, Steven, Nicole, Matthew, Sean, Ava and Hanna.
Richard grew up in Ripon graduating from Ripon High School in 1953. After high school he proudly served his country through the United States Air Force. In 1951 Richard started his life-long career with Pacific Gas & Electric; prominently the Stockton area. During his time with PG&E he was extremely instrumental in building the Miracle Mile and the Lincoln Village.  Always displaying concern with others Richard became the Union Representative (IBEW 1245) where he dedicated himself to ensure the safety of other electric employees.  After serving 38 years with the company he retired in 1989. Richard was exceptionally talented where he was literally a “Jack of all trades.” His family was so proud of the beautiful home that he built from the ground up and the rock pool he constructed by hand. Richard was most at peace when tending to his huge fruit and vegetable garden; which he generously shared with friends and family. Above all Richard’s family meant the world to him. He enjoyed the playfulness of his grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to have fun. Richard will be remembered for his hard work ethics, his will to conquer any challenge, and his unconditional love for his family. He will be missed.   P.L.
