Teresa Pera 001 bw

Teresa Pera passed away peacefully on August 30, 2015. She was born on March 19, 1922 in Marlia, Lucca, Italy to the late Enrico and Assunta Dovichi. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 60 years, Franco, and her dear brother, Marino Dovichi, and wife, Elia.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Tina Risso, and her dear son-in- law Frank. Teresa was blessed with three caring grandchildren: Brian, Eric and Cristina.
Teresa is also survived by a dear nephew, Enrico Dovichi and wife, Gloria and their children: Julie and Mike Day, son, Lucca and Michael and Jenifer Dovichi, children Tayden and Milania.
Family in Italy includes: sister-in-law Giulietta Donati, dear nephew Romano and Caterina Guasticci and Sabrina, Riccardo, Viola and Davide Sabbatini and Fabiana Pieroni. Also in Italy are dear cousins Franca and Sergio Gianni, Licia, Piero, Brunella and Mariano Quilici and Franco Franceschi and Maria Teresa Donati. Dear cousins in Toronto include: the Lamberto and Angelica Baroni Family and the Tina and Filippo LoPresti Constantino Family.  Teresa left school at an early age to help support her family. She worked at the Cantoni Thread factory. After World War II, Teresa immigrated to America and married her beloved Franco. She attended night school to learn English; she did so, but never lost her lovely Italian accent. Teresa had many talents. She was a self-taught seamstress, an outstanding baker and a superb cook. No one left her table hungry. She also loved gardening - flowers and vegetables. She could grow anything.  A member of St. Anthony’s Church, Teresa was a deeply religious woman who attended mass faithfully and would always pray for everyone.
Teresa cherished her family. She always put the needs of others above her own. She was a caregiver for her mother, father and husband. Her grandchildren were her world. Her Italian heritage was a source of pride to her and she made sure to tell her grandchildren about their heritage. She was a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. For many years, she was the sweet voice on the telephone inviting people to attend the various branch functions.
Teresa’s family would especially like to thank the wonderful staff at Prestige Senior Living Expressions for the love, respect and care given to her over the past two years. The family is also grateful to Hospice of San Joaquin for the support and tender care given during the past year.
