Thomas R. Montegani , age 93, of Manteca passed away Tuesday at Doctors Hospital in Manteca.

Tom Montegani was a native and former resident of Sausalito, CA.  He was a long time resident of  Gustine for 54 years, later residing in Manteca for 15 years.   He was the owner of Tom’s Paint Store in Gustine along with his master cabinetmaking. He was a parishioner of the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine and a member of Our Lady of Miracles Society of Gustine. He was a US Army Veteran who served during World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 240 of Gustine. He was a past City Councilman in Gustine and a retired fireman of the Gustine Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of the YMI (Young Men’s Institute) and the Native Sons of the Golden West.  He was an accomplished accordion player over 80 years and an avid Oakland A’s fan.

Tom Montegani, fondly remembered as “Fuzeee” is survived by his son, Gerald Montegani of Huntington Beach; daughter, Mary Stewart of Manteca; caregiver, Tom Stewart of Manteca; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Rose Elizabeth Montegani in 1994.

A visitation will be held at 9 a.m. followed by a Rosary/Funeral Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles in Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery in Newman.
